NIRJULI, 12 Oct: Around 500 participants, including school students, senior runners and fitness enthusiasts, took part in the Itanagar Marathon promo run - Nirjuli edition held at the NERIST ground here on Sunday.

The event was organised by Foxtail Sports Foundation, in collaboration with the Nirjuli Run Club, as part of the build-up to the main Itanagar Marathon scheduled for 1 November.

Held under the theme 'Run for a Fit, Clean, Green and Drug-Free Itanagar', the promotional run aimed to encourage a healthy lifestyle, environmental responsibility and a drug-free society through community participation in sports and fitness activities.

The event featured an inter-school category for students and an open category, attracting participants from across the Itanagar Capital Region. The presence of senior runners alongside young participants added to the spirit of community engagement and intergenerational participation.

As part of the initiative to encourage greater participation in the main event, 50 school students and 12 participants from the open category were selected and awarded free entry tickets to the upcoming Itanagar Marathon.

The event was attended by Pakke-Kessang DC Likha Teji, RWD SE Marnya Chiram, NERIST Student Affairs Dean PR Gajurel, and Wild Horn Exploration CEO Mojum Riba. Amini Laa, the brand ambassador of the event, was also present.

The promo run was led and directed by Foxtail Sports Foundation CEO Pei Ijum Gadi and Nirjuli Run Club executive Domum Karlo, along with the organising teams and volunteers.

The Nirjuli edition follows the earlier promotional runs held in Itanagar and Naharlagun, extending the marathon's message to more communities across the capital region. The series of runs seeks to build enthusiasm for the main event while encouraging people, particularly young students, to embrace fitness and responsible lifestyle choices.
