NAHARLAGUN, 9 Aug: Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor on Saturday launched Galo Folklore and Tales: Didactic Preserver towards Cultural Heritage, a book authored by Jumge Pale.
Nyigyor commended the author for undertaking the initiative and appreciated his efforts towards preserving and promoting the rich traditional and cultural values of the Galo community.
He emphasised the importance of documenting indigenous traditions and passing them on to the younger generations.
The book seeks to document and preserve the rich folklore, traditional practices, cultural values and oral traditions of the Galo community in written form, the author said.
"The publication is an effort to systematically record the community's rich cultural heritage and ensure that its folklore and tales are preserved for future generations," Pale said during the launch ceremony.
He said that documentation in book form would help safeguard traditional knowledge and provide future generations with an accessible record of the community's cultural heritage, beliefs, practices and storytelling traditions.
The book launch was also described as an important step towards strengthening efforts for the preservation, promotion and transmission of indigenous cultural heritage in Arunachal Pradesh.
Standing Committee on IT and e-Governance Chairman Nyamar Karbak, Arunachal Indigenous Tribes' Forum general secretary Tapi Tai, members of various Galo organisations, academicians, and literary enthusiasts from across the state attended the programme.
