LIKABALI, 12 Jun: In view of the onset of the monsoon season, the Lower Siang district administration has issued a monsoon advisory, urging all citizens to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and wellbeing during the rainy season.

The advisory, issued by the deputy commissioner’s office, highlights that heavy rainfall, strong winds, floods, landslides, and other natural calamities may pose serious risks to life and property.

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has appealed to the public to remain alert and follow precautionary measures to minimise risks during the monsoon period.

The advisory requests citizens to avoid vulnerable and landslide-prone areas, refrain from venturing into rivers and streams during heavy rains, and not obstruct natural water channels. Residents have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions and strictly refrain from activities such as extraction of boulders, sand, and other materials from riverbanks during rainy days.

Further, the public has been encouraged to maintain emergency supplies, including food items, drinking water, medicines, batteries, and first aid kits. Citizens have also been advised to stay updated with official weather forecasts and information issued by government authorities, and to avoid spreading or believing rumours.

The district administration has appealed to all residents to cooperate with authorities and remain vigilant throughout the monsoon season in the interest of public safety. (DIPRO)
