MEBO, 14 Aug: Tezu MLA and health minister's adviser Dr Mohesh Chai inaugurated an operation theatre (OT) at the community health centre (CHC) here in East Siang district on Thursday, in the presence of District Medical Officer Dr Dilip Dutta and local MLA Oken Tayeng.

Dr Chai expressed hope that the OT would be of immense benefit to the people of the district in case of medical emergencies.

Dr Chai observed that health care facilities such as well-equipped operation theatres, CT scanning units, and diagnostic laboratories are essential in hospitals to ensure smooth service delivery.

"The people of Mebo area need not go to distant places for emergency health care services after the launch of the OT in the CHC," he said.

Tayeng in his address said that the OT would cater emergency medical services to the local people, who earlier thronged either the general hospital in Pasighat or Dibrugarh in Assam.

Pasighat East MLA Tapi Darang, East Siang ZPC Ruth Tabing Boko, DC Sonalika Jiwani, Mebo ADC Nancy Yirang, and a host of health department officials and PRI leaders attended the inauguration function.
