ITANAGAR, 15 Jul: Urban affairs minister Balo Raja has urged the deputy commissioners (DCs) of the concerned districts to expedite all necessary formalities and complete the requisite processes by 15 August so that the creation of the proposed municipalities in Ziro, Namsai, Aalo, and Tawang can be taken forward in a time-bound manner.

Chairing a review meeting on Wednesday to assess the progress of the proposed creation of the four new municipalities, Raja emphasized the importance of public participation and consensus-building. He directed the concerned DCs to undertake proper public consultations and take all stakeholders into confidence before finalizing the proposals.

Raja also reiterated that the establishment of these municipalities will play a pivotal role in strengthening urban governance, improving civic service delivery, and facilitating planned and sustainable urban development in the emerging urban centres of Arunachal Pradesh.

The meeting was attended by the minister’s advisor-cum-MLA, Techi Kaso; urban affairs commissioner Vivek Pandey; urban local bodies director Hano Takka; the respective DCs; and other officials of the concerned districts. The Tawang DC joined the meeting virtually. (OSD to Minister)
