ROING, 26 Jul: An ‘MTB Roing 2026 Cross-Country Marathon (XCM)’ was organised by Aita Linggi, a national-level cyclist, here in Lower Dibang Valley with the objective of promoting mountain biking, encouraging young cyclists, and highlighting the tourism potential and natural beauty of the region.
The championship featured two categories: men’s elite (55 km) and men’s junior (45 km).
The race started from the general ground here and passed through Abali, Horupahar, Denlo, Enjono, Abango, Simari, Balek Bypass, and 12 Kilo, before finishing back in Roing, offering the riders a challenging and scenic cross-country marathon course.
Results
Men’s elite (55 km): Tajum Dere (Mechukha, Shi-Yomi district) – 1:58:30; La Tam (Itanagar) – 2:18:53; and Ahonda Menjo (Roing, Lower Dibang Valley) – 2:28:35
Men’s junior (45 km): Lobsang Tsering (Aalo, West Siang); Dekar Lendo (Itanagar); Vikash Chetry (Roing)
The event reflected a growing cycling culture in Arunachal Pradesh, and is expected to inspire more youths to participate in mountain biking while promoting Roing as an emerging destination for adventure sports.
