TAWANG, 1 Jul: The two-day regional convention of the State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights of the Northeastern states concluded here on Saturday with a collective resolve to further strengthen child protection, care, education, and overall well-being of every child through sustained collaboration and coordinated action among all stakeholders.
The deliberations focused on the theme of strengthening child rights protection through regional cooperation, knowledge sharing, and collaborative action.
The concluding technical session witnessed active participation of the chairpersons and representatives of the state commissions, who shared their experiences, best practices, innovative initiatives, and suggestions for strengthening child protection systems in their respective states.
The discussions highlighted the importance of interstate cooperation, institutional convergence, community participation, and exchange of successful models to address emerging challenges affecting children.
National Human Rights Commission member Priyank Kanoongo expressed hope that the outcomes of the convention would serve as a benchmark for future child rights initiatives and inspire similar collaborative efforts across the country.
Kanoongo lauded the initiative of bringing together all the Northeastern states on a common platform to deliberate on issues concerning child welfare and protection. He emphasised the importance of the recommendations and deliberations that emerged from the convention, stating that they would help shape child rights policies and strengthen institutional mechanisms.
He expressed confidence that children who benefit from these collective efforts would grow into responsible, empowered citizens and play a vital role in realising the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
Organised by the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the convention brought together chairpersons, members, and officials of the State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights from across the Northeastern states. (DIPRO)
