TAWANG, 3 Aug: The North East State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (NE SCPCRs) unanimously adopted the Tawang Declaration on Child’s Rights at the conclusion of the two-day convention held here on 31 July and 1 August.

The declaration provides a regional framework for strengthening cooperation among the Northeastern states in promoting and protecting child rights through coordinated policy action, institutional convergence, exchange of best practices and sustained collaboration, APSCPCR Chairperson Ratan Anya said in a release.

 She said that the declaration would be submitted to the union ministries concerned, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the National Human Rights Commission, and the respective state governments for consideration and appropriate action, the release said.

“The convention laid the foundation for a new era of regional cooperation in child rights protection and reaffirmed the collective commitment of all the Northeastern states to ensure that every child is safe, protected, educated, healthy, respected, heard and empowered,” Anya added.
