BANDERDEWA, 3 Aug: A drug peddler, identified as Rohit Bora, a resident of Laluk in Assam’s Lakhimpur district, was arrested with 9.29 grams of suspected heroin by the Banderdewa police on Sunday night.
Acting on credible information, a team of police from the Banderdewa police station, led by OC Inspector Kipa Hamak, intercepted Bora at 11:49 pm and apprehended him, Naharlagun SP Dr Nyelam Nega said.
A case has been registered against him at the Banderdewa PS under Section 21 (b) of the NDPS Act, Dr Nega said.
Reiterating the ICR police’s unwavering commitment to building a drug-free society, the SP urged citizens to actively support law enforcement agencies by remaining vigilant, spreading awareness, and promptly reporting any drug-related activities to the police.
He said that public participation is vital to effectively combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
