DUMPORIJO, 19 Jul: A candlelight march was taken out here in Upper Subansiri district on Saturday by several community-based organisations, student bodies, intellectuals, and social organisations, seeking justice for Toter Gamkak, aka Paksok, who was allegedly murdered by her former husband on 6 July in Aalo in West Siang district.

Representatives of the participating organisations called upon the law enforcement authorities to expedite the investigation and ensure that the accused is brought to justice. They demanded that the culprit be punished strictly in accordance with the law and stressed that crimes against women must not go unpunished.

 The organisations also appealed to the government and investigating agencies to conduct a fair and speedy investigation, so that justice is delivered without delay.

The protest march, led by the Topo Welfare Society, witnessed participation from organisations, including the Tator Welfare Society, Kara Welfare Society, Heche Welfare Society, Lodu Welfare Society, Galo Youth Organisation, Bogum Society, Galo Welfare Society, and Upper Subansiri District Galo Students’ Union, along with people from different walks of life.
