AALO, 23 Aug: NGO Ajen ix89, comprising members of the Class 9 batch of 1989 of the Government Higher Secondary School, Aalo conducted an 'avenue plantation-cum-drugs awareness programme' at New market here in West Siang district on Sunday, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mindo Loyi and SP Kardak Riba.
Addressing the participants, Basar (Leparada) MLA Nyabi Jini Dirchi appealed to the public to keep Aalo town clean and green. She also appealed to youths to keep away from drugs. She further urged her batch mates of Ajen ix89 to organise more such programmes.
SP Riba appreciated Ajen ix89 group for organising the programme, and urged the shopkeepers to keep a vigil on drug-related activities. He also urged the public to inform the district police if they find anybody involved in drug-related activities.
The deputy commissioner in his address urged the market committees, public and shopkeepers to nurture the saplings which were planted. He also urged the public to keep the town neat and clean.
More than 100 saplings were planted during the programme. A railing was also constructed by Ajen ix89. (DIPRO)
