RONO HILLS, 9 Jul: Prof Shivaraj formally assumed charge as the vice-chancellor (VC) of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) here on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering after assuming office, Prof Shivaraj emphasised that the future growth of RGU lies in the spirit of teamwork and shared responsibility. He called upon the deans, statutory officers, heads of departments, faculty members, officers, staff, researchers, and students to work together with dedication and a shared vision to transform the university into an institution of national eminence with a strong global presence.
The VC urged the university community to embrace innovation, interdisciplinary research, digital transformation, quality teaching, and academic integrity while remaining committed to the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He stressed the importance of creating an academic ecosystem that encourages research excellence, innovation, inclusivity, and meaningful engagement with society.
Prof Shivaraj further appealed to every member of the university fraternity to extend not only their professional cooperation but also their emotional and intellectual support in carrying forward the university’s mission. He expressed confidence that such collective support would enable the administration to function effectively and ensure the continued progress of the institution.
He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a culture of participatory governance, academic freedom, accountability, innovation, and excellence. He expressed optimism that, with the collective efforts of the entire university fraternity, Rajiv Gandhi University would continue to scale new heights in teaching, research, innovation, community engagement, and global academic collaboration, further strengthening its position as one of India’s leading central universities and a beacon of higher education in the Northeastern region.
