Editor,

A few months back, the Cabinet decided to relax the upper age limit for APPSC exams to 40 years, which is a welcome step for those ageing students who had suffered due to backlog and delays.

But the government should understand that the age relaxation could not benefit many aspirants who just crossed 41 years before the advertisement, and who were preparing in the hope that they would get a chance to appear this year, but again, due to delay in advertisement, they cannot.

There is an urgent need to rethink it. We believe that if the upper age limit is considered, then it should cover all ageing serious aspirants.

In the recent advertisement for FAO, which was released after a gap of almost 10 years, many serious ageing commerce aspirants who were eagerly waiting for this exam are left with no option other than quitting the exam.

There is also a mismatch between regular, contractual and casual employees in age relaxation category.

This is an earnest request to the government and the APPSC to take the example of Andhra Pradesh and consider upper age relaxation up to 42 or 43 years at least one last time, as many genuine aspirants have already lost their chance many times due to loopholes and backlogs. Considering said age relaxation once can bring real relief to ageing aspirants.

Hoping that our government and the APPSC will come up with something positive in this regard.
