Editor,
For many years, unemployed tourism youths have been requesting for the advertisement of DTO (tourism) and TIO posts, but the Tourism Department has taken no action in this matter.
We thought that maybe the department had enough personnel in districts and all the vacancies have already been filled up. But when we made enquiry, we found that around 10-12 districts are without a regular DTO.
Every department, be it education, art and culture, ICDS, various engineering departments, personnel, police, land, horticulture, agriculture, etc, release their vacancies advertisement of Group A and B posts almost every year through the APPSC and Group C posts through the APSSB.
But we have seldom seen the advertisement of even Group C posts in the Tourism Department in the last many years. It is not that vacancies are not there in the Tourism Department; it is the department which is not advertising the vacancies for reasons they only know.
There are many departments which are less important than Tourism Department in the districts. They do not forget to recruit their personnel from time to time. But the department which earns fame and money for the government in districts is being run with the help of DTOs in-charge.
Why are the director and the secretary of tourism not taking action in this matter? Does the Tourism Department wish to run the department in the districts with the help of DTOs in-charge forever?
When HoDs of other departments are very serious in recruitment of officers and officials for their departments, why is the Tourism Department also not serious, being one of important departments?
If the director and the secretary tourism are reading this letter, it is an appeal from unemployed tourism youths to kindly hand over the vacant posts of DTO and TIO to the APPSC for early advertisement. Many have already crossed the upper age limit while waiting for the advertisement of DTO and TIO, and many are on the verge of reaching the upper age limit.
