Every year, every department releases advertisement for vacancies through the APPSC, but the Tourism Department does not do so. Thousands of unemployed tourism youths are ready to write exams for the posts of district tourism officer (DTO) and tourist information officer (TIO), but no advertisement has been released by department for many years.

Only one post of TIO was advertised in 2022, which was cancelled in 2025 without giving any reason, and till date there is no update about conducting its written exam.

Many districts are without a regular DTO and a good number of TIO posts are lying vacant.

Vide Order No PERS-40/2/2022/483, dated 15 October, 2025, the Department of Personnel had asked all departments to furnish the latest and anticipated vacancies up to December 2026 by 31 October, 2025 to the APPSC, so that the commission could advertise the vacancies.

In spite of this order, the APPSC is not advertising the posts of DTO and TIO.

Unemployed tourism youths have already met all the authorities concerned, including the tourism and finance minister, but nothing has came out in favour of unemployed tourism youths till date.

Unemployed tourism youths have already knocked all the doors; now the door of the AAPSU is only one left.

Therefore, we unemployed youths with folded hands appeal to the new AAPSU team, led by Meje Taku, to be our voice and raise our issue. You are the last hope we have.
