Editor,
I would like to draw your attention to the delay in the disbursement of salaries to NHM staffers. It has been two months and the staffers have not received their remuneration. Despite this delay, NHM personnel continue to perform their duties with sincerity and dedication, delivering critical healthcare services.
The prolonged non-payment is causing significant hardship and adversely affecting their morale. As informed by the higher authorities, under the new accounting system guidelines known as SNA-SPARSH, the release of the central share (80%) is contingent upon the prior release of the state share (20%). However, the accuracy and implementation of this provision remain unclear. If this understanding is correct, it is imperative that the authorities concerned, namely, the chief minister, the finance minister, and the health & family welfare minister, intervene immediately to resolve the issue and ensure timely release of funds.
Failing prompt action, the association will be left with no alternative but to initiate a democratic movement to safeguard the rights and welfare of NHM staffers. We, therefore, urge the authorities to treat this matter with utmost urgency and ensure immediate release of pending salaries.
