NEW DELHI/RONO HILLS, 28 Jul: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) has brought laurels to the state by securing the first prize in the ‘Holistic learning & academic growth’ category at the Delhi Expo 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, under the theme ‘Government Schemes & Achievements’.
The recognition acknowledges RGU’s sustained efforts in promoting quality education, academic excellence, research, innovation, inclusive development, and community engagement.
Throughout the three-day exhibition, held from 25-27 July, the university’s pavilion attracted visitors from across the country, showcasing RGU’s transformative initiatives, best practices, and contributions towards nation-building.
Receiving the news of the award, Vice-Chancellor Prof Shivaraj expressed immense pride and gratitude, and said, “This prestigious recognition is a proud moment not only for RGU but also for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. The award reflects our unwavering commitment to holistic education, academic excellence, innovation, and social responsibility. I dedicate this honour to the entire RGU fraternity, its faculties, officers, staff, researchers, students, alumni, and stakeholders whose collective efforts have made this achievement possible. Let this inspire everyone to reach even greater heights in the years ahead.”
Former RGU acting VC Prof SK Nayak congratulated the university and said: “The first prize is a testimony to the strong academic foundation and institutional culture nurtured over the years. It is gratifying to witness RGU receiving such recognition for its holistic approach to education.”
Registrar Dr NT Rikam described the award as a milestone in the university’s growth journey, and said that such achievements reflect the university’s prudent planning, effective governance, and coordinated efforts across all departments.
“It reinforces our resolve to continue investing in academic quality, infrastructure, research, and student-centric initiatives that will further strengthen RGU’s position among the leading higher educational institutions in the country,” he said.
RGU Joint Registrar Dr David Pertin, who led the university’s participation at the exhibition, said winning the first prize in the ‘Holistic learning & academic growth’ category “is a moment of immense pride for the entire RGU fraternity.
“The overwhelming appreciation received from visitors and experts throughout the exhibition reaffirmed that RGU is making meaningful contributions to higher education and national development. This recognition belongs to every member of the university community whose dedication, teamwork, and commitment made it possible. We remain committed to showcasing the excellence of Arunachal Pradesh and taking RGU to even greater heights,” he said.
The four-member RGU team comprised Dr Pertin, Assistant Professors Dr Ravi Ranjan Kumar and Dr Nikhil Kumar Mahnot, and PRO Moyir Riba.
The university authorities expressed gratitude to all visitors, dignitaries, well-wishers, alumni, members of the Arunachal community in Delhi, and supporters who visited the RGU pavilion and encouraged the team during the exhibition.
The award further strengthens Rajiv Gandhi University’s reputation as a premier institution of higher learning in Northeast India, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, skill development, and community outreach, the university stated in a release.
