ITANAGAR, 13 Jul: A robust prosecution system is essential for safeguarding the rights of citizens, enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement, and ensuring that offenders are held accountable under the law, Governor KT Parnaik said.
During a meeting with newly appointed Additional Advocate General Dugmar Kamduk at the Lok Bhavan here on Monday, the governor emphasised the vital role of the legal and prosecution machinery in ensuring timely justice and strengthening public confidence in the judicial system.
He shared his concern over the comparatively low rate of prosecution and conviction in cases involving crimes against women and children, and stressed that such offences require prompt, sensitive and effective legal action.
He underscored the need for coordinated efforts among investigating agencies, prosecutors and other stakeholders to ensure that justice is delivered in a timely manner.
The governor expressed confidence in Kamduk’s professional competence, integrity and commitment to public service, and said that he would effectively discharge his duties while upholding the rule of law and meeting the expectations of the government as well as the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
The governor also advised strengthening the Prosecution Directorate through capacity building, professional training and improved institutional support. (Lok Bhavan)
