PASIGHAT, 14 Aug: As part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, Spearhead Gunners, based at the Sigar military station here in East Siang district, conducted a youth outreach programme at the Jonai Science College in Dhemaji district of Assam on Friday.
The programme included a motivational lecture on 'Join Indian Army', and was attended by 120 students from Class 5 to first-year degree students.
The programme commenced with an art competition based on the theme of Independence Day and patriotism. This was followed by an interactive motivational lecture aimed at creating awareness among the students about the Indian Army and career opportunities in the armed forces.
During the lecture, students were briefed on the role and organisation of the Indian Army, life in the Army, pay and emoluments, and various avenues available to join the Indian Army. The interaction also provided the students with an opportunity to understand life as a soldier and seek guidance on career opportunities in the Army.
Students who performed well in the art competition were felicitated during the programme. (DIPRO)
