PASIGHAT, 8 Sep: Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC) Principal Dr Gindu Borang urged newly admitted students to set clear goals and work diligently to achieve them.
Addressing the freshers at an 'orientation-cum-induction programme' themed 'Learn, Connect, Grow, Belong' at the college auditorium here in East Siang district on Tuesday, Dr Borang underscored discipline, punctuality, and sincerity as the pillars of academic and professional success. He urged students to come forward and showcase their talents without hesitation.
Drawing from his previous tenure as the principal at the Nyapin and Kamki colleges, he recalled how he had mentored several raw talents into recognised personalities, and shared that he continues this mission through his YouTube channel 'TGB Immang Ledu', which he runs to promote hidden talents from the region and bring them into the limelight.
Vice Principal Dr Leki Sitang provided an overview of academic expectations. Recalling the institution's journey since its inception in 1964 and its alumni serving across the nation and the world, he reminded the students that graduation would soon place them in a competitive world where survival depends on the skills they acquire.
"Academic norms will be strictly enforced: a student who fails in the December semester will not be re-admitted, and all three internal assessments of 20 marks each, along with the 80-mark end-semester examination, must be cleared," he said.
He cautioned against excessive dependence on artificial intelligence in academic writing and urged the students to return to sustained reading of books, and reaffirmed JNC's ethos of "pan-Arunachal and pan-India" by encouraging friendship across every possible background.
IQAC Coordinator Dr DP Panda presented a detailed institutional overview covering the four-year undergraduate programme with multiple entry and exit options under NEP 2020, alongside the major, minor, MDC, VAC, and SEC frameworks.
A total of 1,674 undergraduate and postgraduate students have been admitted to the college this academic year.
