ITANAGAR, 17 Jun:  Laa Anu and Suraj Das, representing Kamle district, won the U-15 girls’ and boys’ singles events respectively, of the 4th Sub-Junior State Ranking Badminton Tournament.

Kapnai Jamikham and Sunil Jebisow of Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA) won the U-15 boys’ doubles event, while in the U-15 girls’ doubles, Ami Flago and China Tamut, also from SLSA, emerged victorious.

The mixed doubles event (U-15) was won by Kapnai Jamikham and China Tamut of SLSA.

A total of 174 players from 21 districts competed during the three-day tournament, which concluded at the Khelo India Indoor Badminton Stadium here on Wednesday.

Congratulating the participants for their commendable performances and dedication to the sport during the closing ceremony, Arunachal State Badminton Association working president Dr. Mohesh Chai emphasized the importance of nurturing young sporting talent at the grassroots level and assured continued support for the development of badminton in the state.

SP Jummar Basar lauded the enthusiasm and discipline displayed by the young athletes throughout the tournament. He encouraged the players to continue pursuing excellence both on and off the court and highlighted the role of sports in building character, confidence, and leadership among youth.

Cash prizes, along with trophies, medals and certificates were awarded to the winners and runners-up of the various categories.

The tournament was organized by the Capital Complex Badminton Association under the aegis of the Arunachal State Badminton Association.
