ITANAGAR, 15 Jun: The 4th Sub-Junior State Ranking Badminton Tournament commenced at the Khelo India Indoor Badminton Stadium here on Monday, bringing together young badminton talents from across Arunachal Pradesh.
The opening ceremony was attended by IT & e-Governance Chairman Nyamar Karbak and Arunachal Tennis Association president Dr Hatobin Mai, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Karbak emphasised the importance of sports in the overall development of youths, and appreciated the efforts of the badminton fraternity in promoting sports across the state. He encouraged the young players to strive for excellence and uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Dr Mai in his address highlighted the significance of sports in building confidence, discipline, and character among young athletes. He motivated the participants to make the most of the opportunity and perform to the best of their abilities.
The tournament is being organised by the Capital Complex Badminton Association, under the aegis of the Arunachal State Badminton Association. The championship has attracted participation from 21 districts across Arunachal, with a total of 174 players competing in 11 events.
Altogether, 287 entries have been received, and 276 matches are scheduled to be played during the tournament, which will conclude on 17 June.
