TAWANG, 27 Sep: As part of an initiative to strengthen coordination among the district police, border guarding forces and local communities, Tawang SP Tasi Darang on Sunday visited India-Bhutan border areas under Dudunghar circle in Lumla subdivision.

The SP, accompanied by SSB, SIB, Special Branch officers, police personnel, GBs and panchayat members, reached Warongdi, located ahead of the Tsamtikhang check post manned by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Bleteng.

During the visit, a joint interaction was held involving GBs and gram panchayat members of the area, and representatives of the SSB, during which certain issues and differences raised were discussed, with the SP facilitating dialogue among the parties.

Tasi assured the participants that matters requiring local administration's intervention would be brought to the notice of the authorities concerned for consideration.

He also sensitised the gathering to various issues concerning border areas, including unauthorised cross-border movement, prevention of illegal activities, demographic changes and the need for vigilance and timely sharing of information with the authorities concerned.

Highlighting legal provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976, the SP sought community participation in preventing crimes and protecting vulnerable sections of society.

Later, Tasi and his entourage visited Buri village, one of the first Indian border villages towards Bhutan, along with adjoining areas, and interacted with the local residents. (DIPRO)
