KHONSA, 14 Jul: As part of the nationwide observance of the National Reading Month, the New Age Learning Centre at the Tirap district library on Tuesday organised an awareness programme aimed at promoting the habit of reading and fostering a culture of lifelong learning among students and the general public.

Attending the programme, District Library & Information Officer Chaphun Sumnyan spoke on the contributions of PN Panicker towards the library movement in Kerala in particular and in India in general. She further highlighted the importance of reading in enhancing knowledge, developing critical thinking, and nurturing creativity.

She emphasised that books remain one of the most valuable sources of education and personal growth, even in the digital era.

The programme witnessed participation of students of Government Town Secondary School, Khonsa, library readers, and staff of the district library.

Kaipho Pansa won the 1st prize in a reading-cum-extempore speech competition, while Kimong Longsey and Anon Wangsu won the 2nd and 3rd prize, respectively. The district library organised the competitive event for students as a part of the ongoing National Reading Month. (DIPRO)
