ITANAGAR, 8 Jul: The state tourism department on Tuesday organised a counselling programme for students selected under the Chief Minister’s Paryatan Shiksha Yojana (CMPSY) I and II for the 2026-27 academic session at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Hall here.

Representatives from the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Guwahati; IHM, Shillong; the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Bhubaneswar; and the Food Craft Institute (FCI), Nagaon, Assam, briefed students and their parents on academic programmes, admission procedures, campus life, internship opportunities, and placement prospects, giving them a better understanding of the courses and the preparation required.

During the interactive session, faculty members and representatives from the four institutes answered queries from students and parents, addressing concerns related to admissions, fees, hostel facilities, and career opportunities.

The CMPSY is one of the tourism department’s flagship initiatives aimed at encouraging the state’s youth to pursue careers in the tourism and hospitality sector. Under the scheme, selected students are enrolled in professional courses at partner institutes, with the department bearing their academic fees for the entire duration of the programme.
