Editor,

I wish to bring to the notice of the public and the authorities concerned a serious financial grievance faced by me and more than 20 other beneficiaries under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana (DDUSY), 2025.

I was selected as a beneficiary in 2025. However, the then branch manager of the Central Bank of India, Itanagar branch, allegedly withdrew the government subsidy of Rs 20 lakh and the beneficiaries' self-contribution of Rs 15 lakh without my knowledge or authorisation.

I had borrowed the self-contribution amount from a private source on interest. Due to the unresolved matter, I have incurred substantial expenses on interest and legal fees. Despite repeated approaches, the bank has not provided a satisfactory resolution.

The bank's lack of cooperation has caused serious financial hardship and uncertainty to more than 20 beneficiaries. Most of us lack the financial means to pursue prolonged legal proceedings against a banking institution, while the interest burden continues to increase.

I therefore appeal to the chief minister, home minister, the authorities concerned, and civil society to intervene and ensure an impartial investigation and appropriate relief for the affected beneficiaries.

I also urge the people of Arunachal Pradesh to exercise caution and maintain proper documentation while dealing with banks, particularly in matters involving government subsidies, loans and beneficiary contributions.

We are not seeking confrontation; we are seeking justice, accountability and protection of the rights of the affected beneficiaries.
