ITANAGAR, 16 Jul: Fourteen players of the Arunachal Pradesh Amateur Karate-Do Association (APAKA) have been selected to participate in the 10th South Asian Karate Championship 2026, scheduled to be held from 15 to 18 July in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The APAKA in a release on Thursday informed that the APAKA players will join the Karate India Organisation (KIO) – Team India in Kolkata on 15 July and will depart from Kolkata to Dhaka, Bangladesh, to represent India in the championship.
APAKA president Kyoshi Yarda Niki and general secretary sensei John Bagang have congratulated all the selected players and expressed confidence that the team will perform with dedication and bring laurels to the state and country.
The selected players are:
Senior male team kata – Abab Sangdo, Khyoda Talik and Tai Bengde.
Junior individual kata – David Chetri.
Senior female individual kumite (-61 kg) – Nabam Yani.
Under-12 girls’ individual kata -Phassang Chami.
Under-13 boys’ individual kata & individual kumite (-45 kg) – Himangsu Borah.
Cadet boys’ individual kumite (-61 kg) – Kayu Kanu Bagang.
Junior boys’ individual kumite (-50 kg) – Tom Mara.
Junior girls’ individual kumite (-42 kg) – Yamter Taso.
Cadet boys’ individual kumite (+70 kg) – John Dodum.
Under-10 boys’ individual kumite (-35 kg) – Tasing Nilling Liyu.
Senior men’s individual kumite (-50 kg) – Nangram Tachung.
Senior female individual kumite (+67 kg) – Johny Mangkya.
