LONGDING, 5 Aug: The horticulture department in Longding district organised a comprehensive training-cum-awareness programme on horticulture schemes for selected beneficiaries at Kamhua-Noknu village in the district on Wednesday.

The programme focused on technical capacity building and creating awareness about key government initiatives, including the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), with emphasis on the area expansion programme through cluster-based crop management; the Atma Nirbhar Bagwani Yojana (ANBY) for sustainable horticultural development; and the Atma Nirbhar Plantation Scheme (ANPS) for expanding production coverage.

During the technical session, resource person and horticulture development officer Jaman Rangkham educated farmers on scientific horticultural cultivation practices, the balanced application and efficient use of manures and fertilisers, and the application of organic plant protectors and eco-friendly crop guards to safeguard crops against pests and diseases.

A total of 30 farmers participated in the programme. (DIPRO)
