BOMDILA, 19 Aug: Coinciding with the 59th birth anniversary of the late His Eminence, the 13th Tsona Gontse Rinpoche, the 3rd Monyul Bhoti Language Day was organised by the Sherab Sangpo Sangha (SSS), Bomdila unit, at the conference hall of the Bomdila Buddhist Society (BBS) in Bomdila, West Kameng district, on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Geshi Konchok Tsering, a Buddhist Philosophy teacher at Gontse Gaden Rabgye Ling Monastery, highlighted the contributions of the late Tsona Rinpoche to socio-economic development, education and spirituality. He said the late Rinpoche's efforts led to the introduction of Bhoti as a third language in the school curriculum across the state.

Elaborating on the theme, "Preserving the Language, Preserving the Monpa Heritage, Preserving the Wisdom," he urged students and parents to recognise the importance of the Bhoti language and work towards its preservation.

BBS secretary Dr. Dechin Droka and Government College Bomdila principal Dr. Tashi Phuntso also encouraged students to study Bhoti, stressing that the language is as important as English and Hindi. They said Bhoti is deeply rooted in the region's spiritual, traditional and cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, resource persons Tsultrim Darge and Lama Sonam Tsering, members of the SSS, elaborated on the scope and wider significance of Bhoti, emphasising the need to preserve and promote the language for posterity.

An interactive session and a basic writing-skills session were also organised, with enthusiastic participation from students. A workbook on basic letter formation and writing was distributed to students from various schools in the town, as well as to teachers and parents.
