ZIRO, 17 Jul: Thirty-six units of blood were collected during a blood donation camp organised by the Apatani Baptist Association (ABA), in collaboration with the blood centre of Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital here in Lower Subansiri district on Friday.

The voluntary blood donation camp was more than a standard medical event; it was a gathering of neighbours united by a single, powerful purpose – to give the gift of life. Throughout the day, local residents walked through the doors with a shared desire to turn the Christian values of love, sacrifice, and deep compassion into a tangible lifeline for others.

Men and women from all walks of life stepped forward to roll up their sleeves, creating an atmosphere filled with warmth, hope, and solidarity. To ensure the safety and well-being of every participant, the hospital’s medical team conducted careful, professional screenings. While some willing donors were deferred for routine medical reasons, their selflessness was deeply appreciated by everyone present. Ultimately, a total of 36 units of blood were collected, with the medical team reporting a completely smooth process and absolutely zero adverse donor reactions.

This drive has significantly replenished the hospital’s essential reserves, securing 10 units of A+ve, 10 units of B+ve, 14 units of O+ve, and 2 units of AB+ve blood.

The initiative by the ABA highlighted a deeply rooted culture of health awareness and mutual care in Lower Subansiri district, where many regular donors return time and again simply because they know their community is counting on them.

The seamless collaboration between pastor Dani Tadu from the ABA and the tireless healthcare professionals at Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital made the day’s success possible.
