DHEMAJI, 17 Jun: Assam Minister for Rural Development and Panchayatiraj, Atul Bora said the regional committee constituted for settlement of Assam-Arunachal boundary disputes is working on the right track and has gained positive response from boundary dwellers.
Bora, who visited Assam’s Dhemaji district on Tuesday, held a meeting with HoDs, PRI leaders and officials of the disaster management department, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is taking a strong initiative to resolve the long-pending boundary disputes amicably.
“The chief minister is maintaining regular communication with his Arunachal counterpart in this regard and monitoring all activities of the regional committee,” the minister said.
He appealed to the people of both states to extend their full cooperation to the regional committee.
The minister said that boundary disputes in major portions have been resolved, while the regional committee comprising elected leaders and administrative officials from both states is working on the remaining portions.
During his day-long visit, the minister reviewed the Dhemaji district’s monsoon preparedness and asked officials to keep regular vigil in flood-prone areas and take necessary measures to ease suffering of the people.
