YUPIA, 12 Jul: A coordination meeting concerning the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) was convened under the chairmanship of Papum Pare District Election Officer (DEO) Lobsang Tsering here on Thursday.

The meeting saw the participation of electoral registration officers (EROs), assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs), and representatives of various political parties.

While reviewing the current status, the DEO pointed out that the district is currently “facing shortcomings in the distribution and collection of enumeration forms.”

The DEO said that “the progress in Doimukh and Sagalee Assembly constituencies is on track” and acknowledged that Itanagar is lagging behind in the enumeration process despite full effort from the election machinery.

Along with house-to-house visits by BLOs in coordination with the BLAs, several special camps to boost the distribution and collection of enumeration forms have been set up in and around various locations of the capital region.

Electors have been urged to contact their respective BLOs to fill their enumeration forms within the stipulated time.

The DEO appealed to the representatives of all political parties present to extend full cooperation and active support to ensure 100% coverage and accuracy during the intensive exercise.

The AEROs provided detailed status updatesregarding the progress of collection and digitisation of enumeration forms at their respective polling stations.

Representatives from the political parties shared inputs, and expressed deep concern over the issues of double enrolment and fake voters in the electoral rolls. The BLAs from each party are assisting their BLOs in distribution and collection of enumeration forms, and reported that many of the electors are already enrolled in their native places and preferred to get enumerated there.

Further, it was brought to notice that many electors have permanently shifted or are dead but have not been deleted from the current e-roll as their relatives did not report about such instances.

Addressing these concerns, the DEO assured the members that the SIR process is being meticulously conducted specifically to identify and eliminate such anomalies, thereby ensuring a clean and error-free voter list. (DIPRO)
