DAPORIJO, 5 Jun: A meeting with representatives of all recognised political parties was held on Friday at the office of the deputy election officer (DEO) here in Upper Subansiri district to discuss the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Bharatiya Janata Party, members of the Indian National Congress, as well as electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs).

During the meeting, the DEO provided a detailed presentation on the SIR process and elaborated the timeline of the various activities scheduled under the revision programme. The significance of maintaining an accurate, transparent, and inclusive electoral roll was highlighted, with emphasis on the role of all stakeholders in ensuring the success of the exercise.

The DEO urged the representatives of all political parties to extend their full cooperation to the EROs and AEROs in carrying out the revision process effectively. He stated that the SIR aims to ensure a “clean, healthy, and error-free electoral roll,” thereby strengthening the democratic process and safeguarding the integrity of elections.

The representatives present assured of their cooperation and support towards the successful implementation of the SIR process in the district.

In Tawang district, a comprehensive training programme on the SIR of electoral rolls was conducted on Friday at the deputy commissioner’s office.

The programme brought together EROs, AEROs, BLO supervisors, booth level officers (BLOs), and officials from the Election Department to strengthen their understanding of electoral roll management and revision procedures.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Election Officer Rinchin Leta underscored the vital role played by BLOs in maintaining a clean, accurate, and error-free electoral roll. He urged all election functionaries to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication, emphasising that diligent field-level verification is essential for identifying and correcting discrepancies, thereby strengthening the democratic process.

Earlier, Electoral Registration Officer of 2-Tawang ST Assembly constituency, Tsering Choden, encouraged the participants to actively engage in the training sessions, seek clarifications, and fully utilise the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills.

The technical session was conducted by Sougata Maity, assistant programmer from the office of the chief electoral officer, Arunachal Pradesh, who provided detailed insights into the SIR process, electoral roll management, and the latest operational procedures to be followed during the revision exercise.

The training programme reinforced the shared commitment of election officials towards ensuring accurate electoral rolls, informed election management, and stronger democratic parti-cipation.(DIPROs)
