KHONSA, 25 Jul: Tirap Deputy Commissioner Badonlum Tawsik stressed the importance of better coordination between banks and line departments to ensure government-sponsored schemes reach the right beneficiaries transparently and on time.

Chairing a District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting here on Friday, the DC urged all departments to work in convergence with financial institutions to improve credit flow, create livelihood opportunities, strengthen financial inclusion, and accelerate the socioeconomic development of Tirap district.

Tawsik also urged all banks to conduct financial literacy camps, with special focus on villages along the Indo-Myanmar border and areas covered under the Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II).

He stressed the need to create greater awareness about banking services, social security schemes, digital banking, and government-sponsored programmes to strengthen financial inclusion and improve outreach in these remote areas.

He further stressed the importance of timely disposal of loan applications, effective implementation of government flagship schemes, regular monitoring of beneficiaries, and wider public awareness of banking and financial assistance programmes.

The DC urged all stakeholders to resolve bottlenecks through mutual coordination and collective efforts to achieve inclusive and sustainable development.

NABARD District Development Manager Rowncha Wangsu presented the bank’s performance review for the quarters ending March and June 2026.

She highlighted the achievements under priority sector lending, financial inclusion initiatives, government-sponsored schemes, and the credit-deposit ratio. The progress made by various departments under different developmental and livelihood programmes was also reviewed.

During the meeting, the committee discussed agricultural credit, horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry, self-employment, education loans, self-help group financing, and the implementation of various central and state government-sponsored schemes. Suggestions were made to improve banking services, increase institutional credit, and strengthen coordination among all stakeholders.

All participating departments and financial institutions pledged to work together to strengthen financial services, promote financial inclusion, and foster inclusive and sustainable development across the district.
