NAMSAI, 20 Jul: Namsai Deputy Commissioner CR Khampsa underscored the importance of stronger convergence between banks and government departments for achieving the district’s development objectives.
Chairing a District Consultative Committee and District Level Review Committee meeting here on Monday, covering the quarters ending March 2026 and June 2026, the DC advised banks to ensure timely sanction and disbursement of eligible loan proposals, and encouraged all stakeholders to work together to strengthen rural livelihoods through effective implementation of government-sponsored sche-mes, social security programmes, and state flagship initiatives.
The meeting was attended by NABARD Assistant General Manager (District Development) Kamal Roy, Lead District Manager Ojing Taboh, branch managers of the State Bank of India, Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, Apex Bank, Central Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, Punjab & Sind Bank, Punjab National Bank, UCO Bank, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank. Senior officials from Agriculture and Allied Departments, the district planning office, and the Namsai ADC also participated in the meeting.
A key highlight of the programme was the formal launch of the annual credit plan (ACP) for the financial year 2026-27 by the deputy commissioner. Prepared on the basis of the NABARD’s potential linked credit plan (PLP), the ACP aims to guide banks in extending timely and adequate credit to priority sectors, thereby supporting inclusive and sustainable development in the district.
Addressing the gathering, Roy informed that the district’s total credit potential under the priority sector for 2026-27 has been estimated at Rs 164.60 crore. He urged banks to enhance credit flow to agriculture, allied activities, MSMEs, and other priority sectors to accelerate rural economic growth.
Taboh delivered a presentation on the district’s banking performance.
The committee reviewed important banking parameters, including the credit-deposit ratio, priority sector lending, implementation of the Atmanirbhar schemes of Agriculture and Allied Departments, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana (DDUSY), PM MUDRA Yojana, financial inclusion initiatives, and social security schemes.
During the discussion, Namsai District Planning Officer Dr Keshab Sarmah emphasised the need for coordinated efforts by banks and line departments to achieve the targets under the Atmanirbhar schemes and DDUSY, enabling greater livelihood opportunities for the people of the district.
