PASIGHAT, 16 Aug: The District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP) 2026-27 for East Siang district was released on Friday during the celebration of the 80th Independence Day at the outdoor stadium here.

The DDMP was released by MLA Tapi Darang during the inauguration of the disaster management exhibition stall, in the presence of the DC, SP, Padma Shri awardee Yanong Jamoh Lego, along with heads of departments/offices, public leaders, PRI members,and others.

The release of the DDMP 2026-27 marks a significant step towards strengthening disaster preparedness and institutional capacity in the district. The plan provides a framework for effective disaster risk reduction, preparedness, and response and recovery, with emphasis on coordinated action among different departments and stakeholders during emergencies.

The DDMP is expected to further enhance the district's preparedness to deal with natural and other disasters, while promoting a coordinated and resilient approach towards disaster management.

The occasion reaffirmed the collective commitment of the district administration and stakeholders towards building a safer, stronger and more disaster-resilient East Siang. (DIPRO)
