RUKSIN, 19 Jul: Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering has assured the school management committee of the Poplung Government Primary School here in East Siang district that he would take up the demand for a new RCC building for the school with the education minister.
The MLA, accompanied by ZPMs Miti Paron (Ruksin-I) and Tayam Darang (Ruksin-II), on Saturday visited the school and took serious note of its poor infrastructure and lack of basic facilities.
The MLA said the classrooms, teachers’ common room, and the kitchen of the primary school, constructed with wood and bamboo with CGI roofs, were in a worn-out state, creating problems for students during rainy weather.
During the visit, the school’s head teacher Osek Apum and Debing Gram Panchayat Chairperson Ote Yomin briefed the MLA on the shortage of classrooms and the lack of learning materials and basic facilities in the school, and urged him to pursue a new building grant.
Members of the school management committee lamented that the state’s education department has not yet accorded sanction for a new building despite repeated requests.
Established in 2004, the Poplung Primary School currently has 81 students from Class 1 to 5.
