ITANAGAR, 4 Jun: An awareness-cum-outreach programme, along with a health check-up camp were organised at the DCBO here on Thursday by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation’s(ESIC) Northeast regional office to spread awareness about the ESI scheme and its benefits among insured persons, beneficiaries, and employers.
During the programme, the participants were briefed on the medical and cash benefits provided under the ESI scheme. The interactive session also facilitated on-the-spot grievance redressal and feedback to enhance service delivery in the state.
Addressing the participants on the occasion, Northeast Zone Insurance Commissioner Pranay Sinha highlighted key initiatives of the ESIC, including the code on social security, which aims to extend social security coverage to unorganised, gig and platform workers, tea plantation workers,and those engaged in hazardous industries, while strengthening benefits for the organised workforce.
ESIC Northeast Regional Office nodal officer Dr Bhumidhar Barman stated that efforts are underway to empanel more hospitals in the state to strengthen healthcare services for ESI beneficiaries.
A large number of insured persons and beneficiaries participated in the programme and availed of services provided through the preventive health check-up camp.
