DAPORIJO, 21 Sep: A massive fire broke out at Little Blossom Day Care School in Medical Colony here in Upper Subansiri district at around 11:30 am on Monday, triggering panic among the students, staff and local residents.

According to reports, the fire broke out on the terrace of the school building, where a large quantity of wooden and bamboo materials reportedly stored for construction purposes had been kept. The materials quickly caught fire, causing flames and thick smoke to rise from the building.

Students reportedly had a narrow escape as the fire broke out in the school premises. No casualties have been reported so far.

A fire tender reached the spot and immediately began dousing the flames with water, preventing the fire from spreading further to other parts of the building and nearby structures.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. The exact extent of damage to the school property and materials is also yet to be ascertained.

Authorities are expected to conduct an assessment to determine the cause of the incident and the total loss.
