KHONSA, 7 Aug: Four active operatives of the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) or ULFA (I) surrendered before the Assam Rifles (AR) during an operation conducted in the Chupkhaw Track area in Wakka circle of Longding district, near the Indo-Myanmar border, on Friday.

During the course of the operation, sustained persuasion and engagement by the security forces encouraged the insurgents to renounce violence and return to the national mainstream.

The operation was completed without any exchange of fire or casualties.

The security forces recovered four pistols along with 17 rounds of live ammunition from the surrendered operatives. (DIPRO)
