ITANAGAR, 19 May: Governor KT Parnaik called for greater augmentation of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Arunachal Pradesh, stating that MSMEs can become a strong pillar of Arunachal’s socioeconomic development.

Interacting with Ishan International MD & CEO Santanu Srivastava, who leads strategic partnerships with the state and central governments in empowering MSMEs in India, in New Delhi on Tuesday, the governor said that Arunachal, with its rich natural resources, tribal crafts, organic farming potential, forest produce, tourism opportunities, and unique cultural heritage, offers immense scope for entrepreneurship and local enterprise development.

He highlighted that MSMEs can generate sustainable livelihood opportunities for youths, women, artisans, farmers, and self-help groups.

He said sectors such as food processing, bamboo and cane products, handloom and handicrafts, ecotourism, horticulture, herbal products, organic agriculture, and small-scale manufacturing hold tremendous promise for the state.

The governor further said that MSMEs can strengthen self-reliance, reduce unemployment, and discourage migration of youths to cities in search of jobs. They can also help local entrepreneurs gain confidence and financial independence while preserving traditional skills and indigenous knowledge, he said.

Parnaik emphasised that with better infrastructure, financial support, skill development, market connectivity, and digital access, MSMEs can drive inclusive growth, strengthen the rural economy, and contribute to the vision of Atmanirbhar Arunachal and Viksit Bharat. (Lok Bhavan)
