World Blood Donor Day
ITANAGAR, 13 Jun: Governor KT Parnaik has extended gratitude to all voluntary blood donors on the occasion of the World Blood Donor Day.
He said that blood donors, whose selfless act of kindness saves countless lives every day, are silent heroes who offer hope to patients in emergencies, support mothers during childbirth, assist those undergoing surgeries and cancer treatment, and help sustain life when it is needed most.
The governor said that this year’s theme, ‘One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives’, captures the spirit of compassion and solidarity that lies at the heart of blood donation.
Every unit of blood donated is a priceless gift that cannot be manufactured. It can only come from generous individuals willing to help others without expecting anything in return, he said, and encouraged youths, communities, institutions, and all eligible citizens to embrace blood donation as a noble social responsibility.
“A few minutes spent donating blood can mean a lifetime for someone in need. Regular voluntary blood donation strengthens our healthcare system and ensures that safe blood is available to every patient, everywhere, whenever required,” he said.
“Let us celebrate the spirit of humanity by pledging to donate blood regularly and inspire others to join this life-saving mission,” the governor said. (Lok Bhavan)
