PASIGHAT, 19 Oct: The Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) has installed five CCTV cameras at three locations in Pasighat town in East Siang district to check violations of garbage disposal rules and monitor unhygienic dumping in public places.
The CCTV camera sets, contributed by Ward 7 Councillor Pema Dolma Moyong, were installed in Jarkong, the old Sumo counter area, and the public bus stand near HDFC Bank.
The PMC has taken the step after receiving public complaint about garbage and domestic waste being dumped along roadsides and in public places in the township.
The PMC had recently issued a notice to urban dwellers, shopkeepers and owners of commercial establishments in Pasighat township, urging them to maintain cleanliness and hygienic environment in their surroundings.
Appealing to the residents to obey rules, the PMC said that anyone found dumping garbage along roadsides and public places would be penalised Rs 2,000 or more, in accordance with applicable municipal rules.
