TAWANG, 4 Sep: Tawang Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo emphasised that every infrastructure project must ultimately serve the purpose for which it has been created and provide tangible and lasting benefits to the people.

Chairing a District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) here on Friday, the DC stressed that the creation of public infrastructure should not merely be viewed as execution of works or a means of generating profit for contractors.

While reviewing department-wise updates on achievements and the physical and financial progress of various schemes and developmental works, the deputy commissioner directed the departments and executing agencies to accelerate the pace of ongoing works by making optimum use of the available working season, without compromising on quality.

She further emphasised the importance of regular field inspections and site visits by officers, stating that such visits are essential for obtaining firsthand information on the actual progress and quality of developmental works, and for ensuring timely resolution of issues encountered during implementation.

Reviewing the progress of e-KYC updation of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the deputy commissioner appreciated the efforts being made by the fair price shop (FPS) dealers in improving e-KYC coverage.

Executive engineers concerned, along with heads of offices attended the meeting, which concluded with directions to all departments concerned to maintain close coordination, strengthen field-level monitoring and ensure timely and quality implementation of developmental schemes, so that the intended benefits reach the people effectively.
