PASIGHAT, 9 Aug: Massive erosion by the Siang river is posing a serious threat to Borguly village in Mebo subdivision of East Siang district.

The situation turned critical after a recent flash flood washed away a vast agricultural area in Borguly village in Namsing circle. The river's relentless erosion devoured several acres of fertile agricultural land on its left bank, while overflowing water damaged standing crops and a horticulture garden at the affected site.

A team of administrative officials and departmental engineers, led by Pasighat ADC Pebika Lego, recently inspected the affected areas and assessed the extent of losses and damages caused by erosion and the flash flood. The team stressed the need for immediate anti-erosion measures to protect farmers' land and safeguard livelihoods.

The team included Mebo ADC Nancy Yirang, Namsing CO Toimi Tagi, WRD Assistant Engineer Bani Langkam, and panchayat leaders of Mebo.
