DIRANG, 28 Jun: A massive forest fire that broke out at around 2:30 pm on Sunday near the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports area here in West Kameng district was brought under control following swift and coordinated response by security personnel, police, and local residents.

The fire erupted a few metres away from the Jyoti Nagar residential complex of the 30 Bn SSB. It spread over approximately 300 metres, posing a serious threat to nearby residential houses and public property.

On receiving information about the incident, personnel of the 30 Bn SSB, including  its rapid rescue team, immediately rushed to the affected area and acted as the first responders.

Meanwhile, the Dirang police, along with local residents, joined the firefighting efforts. A fire tender from the police, its firefighting team, and a water tanker from the paramilitary force, supported by SSB personnel and local volunteers, worked together to bring the blaze under control, averting a potentially significant loss of life and property.

The timely intervention by local residents, SSB personnel, and the police demonstrated exemplary coordination and collective effort in ensuring public safety, preventing what could have been a major disaster.

“By doing so, the 30th Bn of the SSB once again embodied the force’s motto of ‘Service, Security and Brotherhood’,” SSB officials said while commending the personnel involved in the operation.
