YUPIA, 12 Oct: The Papum Pare District ICDS Cell organised a meeting of local committees (LCs) of the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) and Papum Pare (Rural) on sexual harassment at workplace at the conference hall of the district medical officer here on Monday.

During the meeting, ICDS Cell Deputy Director Jaya Taba highlighted the role of LCs and internal committees (ICs) in ensuring a safe and dignified working environment for women.

CDPO (HQ) Bahi Koyu briefed the participants on the Sexual Harassment Electronic Box (SHe-Box) portal and the responsibilities of LC members. He stressed the need for institutions to constitute ICs as mandated under the POSH Act, 2013, and ensure their onboarding on the SHe-Box portal.

Nirjuli CDPO Tana Chammaro elaborated the key provisions and procedures of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

ICR LC Chairperson Kani Nada Malingemphasised on awareness and coordination, and suggested holding quarterly meetings of LCs and ICs to strengthen implementation of the Act.

The programme concluded with an interactive group discussion on the POSH Act, the SHe-Box portal and measures to enhance the effectiveness of local committees in preventing and addressing workplace sexual harassment. (DIPRO)
