DAMBUK, 11 Sep: In a shocking incident, an over 70-year-old senior citizen of Poblung village here in Lower Dibang Valley district was allegedly attempted to be raped on Wednesday.

The alleged accused belongs to the same village, and is reported to be a minor.

Reportedly, the Dambuk police sprang into action on receiving information that the alleged accused was being held by the villagers, and took him into police custody.

"All necessary formalities and procedures have been followed, and the accused is now in judicial custody. A case has been registered. We cannot disclose much as the case is under investigation," said a police source.
