ITANAGAR, 18 Oct: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein exhorted the youths of Arunachal Pradesh to contribute meaningfully towards building a progressive and prosperous state, stating that the future of the state lies largely with the capabilities and character of its youths.
Addressing the valedictory session of 'Arun Pratibha Sammelan 3.0 - Scholars' Meet' here on Sunday, Mein said that the young generation of Arunachal has a role to play in the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through knowledge, innovation, entrepreneurship and a strong sense of social responsibility.
Emphasising the importance of education in shaping responsible citizens, Mein said that education must empower young people not only to achieve personal success but also to serve society and the nation.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of the Northeast as Ashtalakshmi, the DCM said that the region with its immense natural resources can contribute significantly in India's development journey.
He appreciated Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) - Arunachal Pradesh for organising the three-day residential scholars' meet and for its efforts to promote education, student leadership, character-building and social responsibility among young people.
Recalling the challenges of earlier years, including limited educational infrastructure, poor connectivity and fewer opportunities, Mein observed that improvements in infrastructure and connectivity have opened new avenues for the younger generation.
He said that the government is providing platforms and creating avenues for the youths in sports, arts & music and entrepreneurship development. "Our youths can avail of these opportunities and excel in their chosen fields of expertise," he said.
He urged students to uphold the values of discipline, hard work, patriotism and service to society.
Emphasising the importance of cultural preservation, he encouraged them to embrace modern education and technology while remaining rooted in their indigenous languages, traditions, customary values and cultural identity. He also called upon the youths to stay away from drugs and other harmful activities.
Speaking about the state's economic prospects, Mein highlighted the opportunities available in agriculture, horticulture, tourism and entrepreneurship. He underscored the state's potential in ecotourism, adventure tourism and cultural tourism, noting that the state's rich biodiversity, scenic landscapes and diverse cultural heritage can support livelihood generation and sustainable economic growth.
