LIKABALI, 26 Jul: Nari-Koyu MLA Tojir Kadu on Saturday convened a special review meeting with all heads of departments (HoDs) in the wake of the recent cloudburst and natural calamities that have severely affected the Nari-Koyu area in Lower Siang district.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Gobi Nyicyor, Superintendent of Police Bomken Basar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ainstein Koyu, and all HoDs.

During the meeting, Kadu emphasised that restoring surface connectivity remains the government’s top priority, as it is essential for carrying out damage assessment and rehabilitation activities in the flood-ravaged areas. He informed that an extensive drone survey, along with a detailed assessment of the affected areas, is being undertaken to present an accurate picture of the damage to the central government and seek necessary assistance.

The MLA urged all officers to undertake field visits to the affected locations, noting that road connectivity from both Ledum and Zirdo has been temporarily restored. He directed them to submit factual and comprehensive reports on the extent of damages, so that appropriate relief measures could be planned and timely assistance extended to the affected population.

Kadu also appealed to the officers to provide every possible support and solace to the marooned families. He informed that panchayati raj institutions have been alerted to coordinate with visiting officials and village committees to ensure effective relief and assessment efforts. He further stated that the government is extending a special relief package for the restoration of vital infrastructure damaged by the disaster.

The HoDs briefed the MLA on the relief and restoration works undertaken so far, outlined their action plans, and highlighted the challenges being encountered in the affected areas. (DIPRO)
